Eco Woodcore
"Elan Snowboards is committed to sourcing wood in the most environmentally responsible way for use in our snowboard woodcores. So what does the Eco Woodcore label actually mean?
By sourcing our wood from Slovenia – home to the world’s second largest forestal –
and other countries implementing reforestation policies, we ensure we don’t contribute to the irresponsible felling of trees. “Inverse” board is one of these perfect examples:
The Inverse board is produced out of a wood sourcing from Austria, carrying the PFC certificate label. Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests.
Products carrying the FSC label as the Inverse board are independently certified to assure consumers that they come from forests that are managed to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations. They include managerial aspects as well as environmental and social requirements. In fact FSC rules are the strictest and FSC’s social and environmental requirements the highest. 10 principles and 56 criteria form the basis for all FSC forest management standards. Based on these 10 principles, the FSC has developed further rules (called policies or standards) that further define and explain certain requirements stipulated in the 10 principles.

Finally, Elan Snowboards woodcore are produced according to ISO 14001, one of the World’s Highest Environmental Management Standards.
ISO 41001 environmental management system helps organizations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment and comply with applicable laws and regulations. ISO 14001 is the international specification for an environmental management system (EMS). It specifies requirements for establishing an environmental policy, determining environmental aspects and impacts of products/activities/services, planning environmental objectives and measurable targets, implementation and operation of programs to meet objectives and targets, checking and corrective action, and management review.
Fulfilling these requirements demands objective evidence which can be audited to demonstrate that the environmental management system is operating effectively in conformity to the standard.
