After a nice and productive week at Lake Tahoe we – it´s still Aline, Silvi and me plus new in the US travelling Euro crew is Diana - heated down to Mammoth. It´s Chicken Jam time! On Friday there should have been the Qualifier for Halfpipe and Slopestye but due to bad weather especially storm it was postponed. Saturday was the Pipe day – it started with the Qualifier in the morning, where I got 3rd and entered the Main session. In the end I got 17th which is not too bad for my out-of-training pipe skills. On Sunday again bad weather: snowstorm!! We spent the whole day in the lodge with eating, drinking coffee, drawing, chatting,… in short: WAITING! At the end of the day the whole Slopestyle event was postponed to Monday.
Finally on Monday it was a beautiful sunny day and everything could take place on schedule. The park was in a good shape only the speed was an issue because the kickers were pretty close together. My first run was glorious: As I’m not the best jibber I knocked myself out on the second obstacle – the Aframe box – and speed was gone for the whole kicker line! Juhuuuu! I have to confess the 2nd and 3rd run wasn’t much better. I felt at least on one of the three kickers – Lisa did so too! Bad luck for the Chicas! Ah - I forgot to mention that Lisa came to Mammoth on Sunday morning and still is with us here. Aline and Silvi already left back home. And guess what: Dom the third Chica is here as well – Elan Chicas reunited! Jippiieeee!
Next event on our schedule is MS Superpark in June which started straight after Chicken Jam. Yesterday we had a really great day there. In the beginning when we saw all the features we were kinda scared… but maybe because it was still firm and looked bigger than it is. Lisa, Diana and me had a nice session on the gap jump and Espen was shooting with us. Yeah! After a short lunch break we were checking out the hip: Lisa and Anne-Flore did pretty well – Diana and me were too tired and went down. The day ended with sushi and beer – great success!
Today our bodies and the weather said: Take a day off! So we did – instead of riding we slept late, had a looong coffee klatch, went shopping cosmetics, were relaxing in the hot tub and now we are nerding as most of the time. Snowboarders are computer addicts for sure! When you read this you are one of us too. Ciao!
