Day 8

(La version française suit)

What a halfpipe day that was for the ladies yesterday. It was a beautiful day and I can tell you first hand that the pipe was gorgeous and incredible to ride, maybe the best ever. So many gals trough down their best runs and there was lots of falls as well. Risk it or loose it.

Our Canadians did awesome too. Palmer Taylor fell on both of her qualifying runs on simple tricks, but at 17 years of age, she was just happy to be there. As for Sarah Conrad, she was riding so strong and going huge, but fell both runs in semi-finals placing her in 18th place. Our favorite Powder Room rider, Mercedes Nicoll, peeked at the perfect time. Nothing like riding your best ever at the Olympic Games! Mercedes sailed trough qualifiers and semi-finals riding the best I've ever seen her do. She put down a solid first run in Finals, which put her in 6th! Great runs Mercedes!!!!

Finals were pretty stressful as lost of the top girls fell on their first run. In the end, my favorite for the Gold landed her perfect run: Torah Bright from Australia. No surprise, the American girls were also as strong as their men's pipe team, Hannah Teter took Silver and Kelly Clark won the Bronze. It was a great final show for this sold out event.

Now I have a feeling there will be lots of partying going on starting tonight as both major snowboard events are now completed. Years of work, dreams and expectations for one day are now behind..... till the next 4 years I guess.....maybe.

PGS is next week as we need to watch out for our multiple times World Champion and the most decorated snowboarder in the world: Jaycey-Jay Andersen as he races on the 27th and ladies are on the 26th.

Here are lots of photos with our winning ladies and our top Canadian man, Justin Lamoureux.
