Feb 14th,
Day 3.
Starting off strong with Jennifer Heil winning silver on Cypress in the rain. Now it’s up to our fellow snowboarders to it the slopes today in the first half-pipe training session later this afternoon. Rumors are that the pipe is looking really good even with 60mm of rain to have fallen on the site in the past 24 hours.
Brad Martin has been enjoying his time off, resting and hanging out in the Athlete Village in Vancouver. When I spoke to him last night he was playing Playstation in the athlete lounge with teammates. The past few days have been spent inside the village walls, resting, doing some media interviews and getting fitted for Opening Ceremony clothing. Everybody is loving the athlete village, the huge apartment with only 2 athletes per room are so spacious that Brad sometimes never sees his roommate, Justin Lamoureux, during the day. His apartment will sell after the Games for 5 million $. The food is really good too and luckily there’s a McDonald’s so Brad doesn’t have to go far to get his fix.
Yesterday was the first day that Brad left the “Castle Walls” to go into the real world to meet-up with his mom and girl friend to spend the day checking-out the city. It’s so busy in the streets, buzzing with people and different activities around Vancouver. He was anxious to get back into his comfortable quiet bubble at the Athlete Village. Brad is feeling really good for the first day of training today and he’ll also have lots of support for the Big Day where his mother, father, girl friend, brother and 4 best childhood friends will be there to cheer him on.
Keep you posted on the pipe riding tomorrow.
