Hello my fellow Elan friends, snow-shredders and internet lookers. So I've been running a muck for the past few weeks, from Korea, to Japan, to Calgary, to Whistler for the Showcase Showdown, to Quebec City for my last World Cup and now I'm finally sitting down at my home on my very own couch. Sweet surrender!!!
So I'd like to share with you guys a few things and one of them being the insane amount of snow in Japan that I saw, rode and conquered and the other one is the record amount of snow that is almost paralyzing all of Quebec this year.!!!
Japan, Gujo, was great for pow riding. It would dump at night 50 cm and the morning would be warm and blue bird and the "sacred forest" was always giving us he best possible runs after runs. The pipe was another story with only one day of practice in perfect Spring condition and the only bad weather day was of course contest day with blizzard winds. But the show had to go on.
Then I was off to my homeland "la belle Province" of Quebec with it's celebration of it's 400th anniversary and for anybody that is not from Europe it's a pretty big thing in America where not that much history has happened in comparison. But this year with it's celebration came over 460 cm of snow so far and a few snow storms are still to come in the next few days. Making history right there! Lots of schools are closed this week with the fear that the roofs may collaps under weight of the snow. The snow-remouval trucks are running 24/7 and only 60% of the streets of the city of Montreal are free from the last snow-storm over a week ago.
So I was there to live one of the big storms one Saturday night when we had winds of 140km/hour and 45cm of snow in a few hours only. electricity went out everywhere and had to get to the World Cup in Stoneham that Sunday morning. All highways entrances were blocked by 2 meter snow-banks and stuck cars everywhere. Police were even ripping around on their snowmobiles, people were cross-country skiing to get places as others were digging their way out of their homes. Pretty amazing Winter wonderland that was.
Now back in Squamish and riding Whistler/Blackcomb everyday till The Roxy Chicken Jam where I'll finally be reunited with my favorite Chicas. Can't wait to see you Lisa and Conny.
Check out my Winter Photos.
