Well i finally just set foot back to reality this weekend landing in rainy and cold Vancouver after having spent 6 weeks in Bali and a quick trip to Hong-Kong on my way back. I went there with my best friend Annie and it was once again the best trip ever. I met her at UN's Hotel in Kuta and that place made our trip. It ended-up being the center and meeting place for surfers and where lots of snowboarders go on vacation too so we felt just at home as we met great friends that knew some of ours back home. We quickly became friends with local Jerry and his friends and he hooked-us up and showed us around to all the surf brakes. The only thing is that the first little while, the waves were just massive and we would see the big-pro-tuff-guys come out all bloody and worked from the reefs. It was just way to big, biggest it has been in months apparently. Of course! After a week or so, the swell calmed down and we were able to surf almost everywhere. Just as I thought, I got my ass kicked and got cut-up on the reef a few times but got my confidence and arm strenght up to surf everywhere. Annie and I went to the beautiful and romantic Island of Nusa Lembongan and went diving right away. The water there is so clear that 10m deep looks like it's only 1. We did boat trips everyday and I managed to crash our shitty scooter on the sandy roads in the middle of town with Annie behind me. The whole town saw it and everybody new about it in about 30 minutes. We got out of it with just brooses and I was just really happy that I didn't kill my best friend on vacation. Then we took a fast boat out of there as the swell died down and headed North to Balian with our Ausi friends. There, it was 5 am surf every morning before the winds and crowd came in but I think it was my favorite place to live and surf. Back in Kuta, Annie had to leave for Europe to go ride in Sass Fee so I stayed a few sunny weeks longer. I went to my friend Scott's wedding on Bingin beach. It was beautiful at sunset and with all the kids from the Kuta Orphanage where I had made good friends. So the weeks flew by pretty quick surfing everyday and it was already time for me try to deal with my extended Visa to try to get out of Indo and go back home to Squamish to wait for Whistler to Open. Here are a bunch of photos from there. Let it snow now. Later. dom
