After the long season of traveling to competitions for the World Cup and finishing in overall standings on a great third place, I was really happy to do more stuff with less pressure involved.

First was the end of season project for Red Bull. In the resort of Rogla we were set to build a Red Bull Double Air. My buddy Marko Grilc, the winner of Air & Style, was jumping over Ross Mercer, world record holder for longest jump with snowmobile. It took us 10 day to prepare the jump and in the end we all got some crazy shots.

University time followed and I successfully passed my last two exams. So that meant well deserved surf trip with my girl to the Indonesian archipelago. And the trip was awesome! We traveled from the Bali to Nusa Lembongan and all the way to South Sumatra. A broken surf and some reef bruises was a small price to pay for all the unforgettable adventures.

Check the shots!

Sampa jumpa.

Peace, Matevz

I tried to find some snowboarding as long as possible...

First, I spend my time in June and July on Dachstein glacier like every year -

it is always so much fun slush riding up there with all the friends... check out our Dachstein edit:

After Dachstein closed, I went to Bispingen (Hamburg/Germany) for some fridge riding with the girls:

I won one of contest here in Slovenia on my home mountain(hill) Pohorje. Last weekend was also a national cup on te same hill, but i was 4th, because I did a hard slam on the bottom of the track. So I'm now recoverying and will go to the seaside soon…

When I'm not on a downhill bike I'm cruzzin in the city Maribor with this oldtimer bike ROG elite spezial :))

In july I'll go for a roadtrip to Barcelona with friends, and than in the august maybe go somewhere to wavesurf, but now we're just chillin at the nearby plankzee in Austria.

Yup, over 6 weeks in Squamish now, riding Whistler lots with friends, sledding in the backcountry and finishing off the season with the Grenade Games during the Ski and Snowboard Festival. Now I know why I leave here, and it goes beyond the beauty of the ocean meeting-up with the mountains. The people that live here, no matter what they do, are here cause they choose to be, doing what they want to be doing….well most of them. Riding their bikes, skis, snowboards or trails everyday and feeling sick whenever you’re not able to do something physical for a day.

Grenade Games at the end of April was a total gong-show of awesome parties and funny events from the dual mogul event to pipe jib style where only originality is rewarded as snowboarding contests should be. All of Whistler and its visitor’s felt that they needed a serious cleanse after the Festival.

For my birthday a great friend of mine game me a ticket to go visit him in Venice Beach, California for the weekend and what a great weekend it was. I don’t think I could ever live there, but love visiting that’s for sure. Surf, good food and people watching were the main activities. Seems like Groundhog Day there where the sun rises and falls on the not so perfect plastic world. Love to hate.

Came home to a powder day a few days ago, crisp and cold with 20cm of fresh powder on Blackcomb. Rode with Justin, Oli and Phil trying to get some shots for Whistler Mountain but the sun was shy so we savored our last epic pow day of this season.

It closed off the season perfectly as I got organized to leave to Montreal for a week for some family parties and RBC work before I head to Bali again for a month long surf session.

At the airport again right now….

Here are some funny photos of the Festival, Whistler’s backcountry, So. Cal. And last pow day on the chair.

Ciao

I had a super fun even though I had a broken collar bone at the start of season in autumn on hintertux glacier. I was on many contests, being on top 3 in slovenia and austria, and also made it to the the finals king of S.N.O.W. , but i was unable to attend the finals so I was overall 6th. http://onboard.mpora.com/news/king-snow-grande-finale.html

I couldn't attend this competition, because of another: volkl snowpark rally, where we had a mission to take the best picture, we were 3rd and we had great time. http://www.snowparkrally.com/index.php?id=475&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=487&tx_ttnews[backPid]=462&cHash=a91286955d

All in all most of the time I was shooting for 5-0 the movie with 5-0 production. http://five0production.wordpress.com/ , http://vimeo.com/7166984 , http://vimeo.com/4262731 .

This year I rode more powder and street rails than before, visited lots of cool places, mountains and met new people…

My summer plans are to go to Dachstein glacier in Austria for some summer riding and I'll end this season perfectlyJ

Here are some photos so you can see how good this season was…… Enjoy!

Here we go again. Yesterday I had a parkshooting with LaFamiglia. Today it was supposed to be bad weather, so I thought of testing my new remotecontroller for the photocamera.

After my first tries to get a nice picture, the sun came out and I managed to trigger the remotecontroller in the air while grabbing and being in the right place to take the picture.

Sounds weird, but I´ve taken the picture while jumping.

At least, it was a really nice experience.

See you in the snow!

Greetz from Mayrhofen!

I went riding in Greece for a Snowboard Canada Magazine story with Eric Green, Justin Van Der Poelen and photograper Geoff Andruik. We got to Athens to sleep the night and went straight up to Vasilitsa resort pretty much in the middle of Greece. It took us 9 hours ot get there from Athens, we did get lost a few times too. Once we finally got to the hill it was almost night time and a huge wind/ snowstorm came in. It was sooooo cold, i never thought i'd be this cold in Greece ever!!!!! Are mini-Fiat with 4 huge boardbags on the roff couldn't make it very far and we had to walk our luggage up the road, a good 2 km's to go stay in the 1850 lodge on themiddle of the mountain.

It was amazing, the friends we met, the area and the nest morning we woke-up to 1meter of snow and sunshine for the rest of the week. We hit the best powder turns, backcountry jumps and cliff drops ever. We never thought we woud hit it this good in Greece. After a week there we went to another resort closer to Athens called Parnassos. We stayed in the Van's house and rode the mountain the next day but we were all so sore from our big week that we just wanted to go and live Greece at it's best in Athens and then hit a real Greek party Island: Mykonos.

Off we went to stay at our friend/best snowboarder of Greece: Mike in Athens to visit ancient greece and take the ferry to Mykonos for 3 days before we had to leave back to Canada. We had such good weather everywhere we went and we even had a dip in the beautiful azul blue water of the Greek Island. I was pretty much freezing the whole time but it was sooo worth it.

Great crew, great snow and really greecy.

Best trip ever.

After I've arrived at the park on the top, the big kickerline was closed because of the very strong wind. So the organizer told us that the contest will take place in the mini jib and kickerline. Not good......! But I was lucky, the wind became less and all of a sudden the contest took place at the big kicker line. I had a very good day, felt very comfortable on my Prodigy and sticked my run FS 7 to BS Rodeo 5 to SW BS 7. Yeah. The judges rewarded my line as well and finally I won the Stubai Jam 2010. On the pics above you can see the results and a pic of the price giving. have fun, cheers stoked Patti

Sorry for that! So the past month has been pretty exciting for me…

SARAJEVO

It began with a Balcan trip to Bosnia in the capital city Sarajevo where the Europe cup competiton was held. As we arrived in Sarajevo I was suprised to see that most of the city had been rebuilt, with only a few remaining visible ruins from the war. We were staying in a Hostel in the city centre. All 8 of us slept in one big room with 6 3floor beds in it. Bosnian style. As you imagine two of us girls didn't get much sleep with all the snoring around us. New lesson learned: don't go anywhere without a pair of ear plugs and headphones.

For the next four days we were pretty much eating and drinking. The food was really good, especially the famous meat čevapčiči and burek but not really healthy though. Not a good place for a vegeterian. It was a kind of test how much junk my body can take and it took it suprisingly well! The competiton was also great. I took 1st place and the rest of the team also did good. It was time to celebrate our success! The party was fun. During the day I didn't understand a word the Bosnians were saying but somehow I managed to speak bosnian the whole night.

MUNICH

The fifth day we went back home. As I got home after 9 hours of driving my friends were already waiting for me and Kaja. So actually I was at home just to say Hi! and Bye!, repacked my stuff, took the car and left straight to Munich for the ISPO party. As usual we didn't make any plans so we didn't have a place to sleep yet, but luckily our friends offered us a hotel floor and we were more than happy. In the morning we visited ISPO. I was really tired but super excited beacuse it was my first time there. We were pretty much hanging in the Elan booth, chatting with friends and searching for sponsors. In the evening we went back home. I was driving and my lack of rest and my stupidity resulted when I made a wrong turn on the highway and we ended up in Innsbruck. So that meant almost 300 extra km. So stoked! I started to feel sick so Maja took my place and drove us home.

MAYRHOFEN

For the next few days I was sick so I stayed home but I wasn't getting any better so what's the point of staying home anyway. I decided to go in Mayerhofen for the Sista session with my sister Marina and my friend Maja. As I was there I was thinking that wasn't the best idea. Of course I was feeling worse everyday but I decided to compete anyway. Luckily the weather was good so we didn't freeze. Most of the day I was watching the girls ride qualifications and I was really imppresed with their riding. I was waiting for my qualification heat and then in the end found out that I'm already in the final because of my video contest that I won. Great! Finally it was my turn. Somehow I ended up first, didn't expect it at all. Its a good thing we waited for the prize giving. After the competition we went straight home. Despite of me being sick it was fun and we were happy to be there.

Take care,

Urška

One week in Italy with True Color Films

Alvaro Vogel, Rene Schnöller and me started our trip in Innsbruck. We packed my Golf with all our gear and headed to La Thuile, Italy. There we met up with our filmer Arturo Bernardi, Filippo Kratter, and our photographer Matt Georges, Bolognaise lover. La Thuile's French-sounding name underlines the fact that it is located right on the French border and situated in the beautiful Aosta Valley and the impressing mountains of Mont Blanc. The first two days we were pretty unlucky, the snow was hard packed and we found just in a little part of the forest something to do. But then after the second day during the night it snowed a lot and we had a great third day. We already planned to go to Bardonecchia, and from what we heard it snowed there too. But the next day we saw it didnt snow much there. A little bummed we decided to go to a different resort the next day and it was worth it. Just an hour away it was much better and we had two ok last days. I have to say one week is really short for a trip, where you have to make a story out of it, also when the conditions are not great. But at least we had some great Italian food and a lot of fun! Ciao, I go back to Italia! Love, Lisa

Unfortunately we had some problems to gain speed for the obstacles. Originally our plan was to fix our wakeboard-bar and rope on the car an pull by car, but the snow was too deep for our BMW ;-)

After we managed to build a track and shot our first picture, the security service arrived an told us to leave the area, damn! But on our way home we made a funny watching! Infront of tis remote area, there was a couple doing a blow job in their car! They were clearly annoyed by our presence ;-)

Day 8

(La version française suit)

What a halfpipe day that was for the ladies yesterday. It was a beautiful day and I can tell you first hand that the pipe was gorgeous and incredible to ride, maybe the best ever. So many gals trough down their best runs and there was lots of falls as well. Risk it or loose it.

Our Canadians did awesome too. Palmer Taylor fell on both of her qualifying runs on simple tricks, but at 17 years of age, she was just happy to be there. As for Sarah Conrad, she was riding so strong and going huge, but fell both runs in semi-finals placing her in 18th place. Our favorite Powder Room rider, Mercedes Nicoll, peeked at the perfect time. Nothing like riding your best ever at the Olympic Games! Mercedes sailed trough qualifiers and semi-finals riding the best I've ever seen her do. She put down a solid first run in Finals, which put her in 6th! Great runs Mercedes!!!!

Finals were pretty stressful as lost of the top girls fell on their first run. In the end, my favorite for the Gold landed her perfect run: Torah Bright from Australia. No surprise, the American girls were also as strong as their men's pipe team, Hannah Teter took Silver and Kelly Clark won the Bronze. It was a great final show for this sold out event.

Now I have a feeling there will be lots of partying going on starting tonight as both major snowboard events are now completed. Years of work, dreams and expectations for one day are now behind..... till the next 4 years I guess.....maybe.

PGS is next week as we need to watch out for our multiple times World Champion and the most decorated snowboarder in the world: Jaycey-Jay Andersen as he races on the 27th and ladies are on the 26th.

Here are lots of photos with our winning ladies and our top Canadian man, Justin Lamoureux.

DAY 7

(La version française suit)

OLYMPIC PRESURE OR JUST BAD LUCK? Seems like both Jeff Batchelor and Brad Martin were feeling the pressure yesterday with perfect weather and pipe in their favor. Jeff, probably the favorite to podium, fell both of his run’s in qualifiers and Brad after falling in his 1st run seemed to have played it ultra safe for his second qualifier lacking some amplitude to score high. Only Justin Lamoureux, the veteran of 33 years of age from Squamish BC, was Canada’s only hope as his technical skills got him into finals.

An incredible pipe final’s was held last night showing us why half-pipe is the most viewed event at the Olympics. What is there not to like with huge height, tricks and style? All the best riders in the world were giving it their all and risking falling hard with lots of double-cork spins at well over 15 feet in the air. Justin Lamoureux did his best, going bigger then I have ever seen him go, in homage to Canada and to snowboarding. He placed a respectable 7th place. As for the medal standings, with no surprise at all, Shaun White won himself another Olympic Gold. Going bigger with 3 double-corks in his victory lap proving why he deserves this title yet again. Silver went to the young Peetu Piroinen from Finland and USA’s Scotty Lago with bronze. It was just surreal to watch till the very last run.

Today is now up to our beautiful ladies to leap to the stars. Mercedes Nicoll, local Whistler girl, has lots of friends and family for support, also Nova Scotia’s favorite rider, Sarah Conrad and young gun, Palmer Taylor, from Toronto. The weather and pipe conditions seem to be the same as yesterday, so picture perfect.

Today’s schedule Pacific Time:

12:30 – Ladies’ Halfpipe Qualification

16:00 – Ladies’ Halfpipe Semifinals

18:00 – Ladies’ Halfpipe Finals

No holding back!

Here is a photo of Justin Lamoureux ready to drop in!

Day 5

(la version française suit)

Gold Gold Gold!!!! Isn't that just the most beautiful color in the World right now? And Red and Gold go so well together too. Local girl Maelle Ricker: is the nicest most humble person you'll ever meet. Maelle has won every single snowboard-cross title you can imagine and probably multiple times too, for over a decade, except for that Olympic Gold. In Torino, at the 2006 Games, it was hers to loose as she not only won qualifiers by a long shot, but also every single elimination round till the finals, where she hooked an edge going off a jump and got helicopter evacuated for a head injury putting her in 4th. Just shy of her Olympic dream. There was so much pressure on her today, but mostly from herself, wanting this more then anything in the World.

The snow and weather conditions were tricky for all riders today as lost of rain and fog made the course extremely difficult to maneuver. Maelle qualified 3rd putting her in a good spot for finals. From there, she didn't loose focus, winning to the very last medal round where she clearly rode to the Gold! Ya Maelle!!!!!

Although it's been a battle with bad weather and lack of snow on Cypress, it clearly hasn't affected our Canadian athletes to perform beyond expectations as most golden and silver medals were now won on the mountain's turf in both freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Today, it's up to our Canadian boys in Men's pipe to keep the medals rolling. We have 3 riders to look out for: Brad Martin from Toronto as well as Jeff Batchelor and veteran Justin Lamoureux from BC. They have all podiumed in the most resent World Cups and they are strong contenders for a spot on the podium here.

As for the pipe conditions.... Miracles do happen, especially at the Olympics. The pipe was picture perfect tonight and it held-up the entire practice session as well. It was one of the best and easiest to ride pipes I've ever tried. All the riders were riding at their best and going huge.

Weather looks good for today too. Let the real show begin!!!!

Here is a photo of Maelle and I after her golden day last evening.

Day 5

What a difference a day makes, well, sort of.... Yesterday's men's snowboard-cross ran as smoothly as possible with Canadian rider Mike Robertson almost taking the Gold till he got boardercrossed at the every end. Such is the sport. Also, Rob Fegan doing us proud my winning the small final and finishing 5th over all. Huge success for this sold out event.

As for the pipe, another evening of training that went better then the first but still not up to par with what a competition pipe should be. With the help of freezing levels dropping over night and some fertilizer the groomers were able to get the pipe walls in better shape but the flat bottom was still a problem as riders would just sink deep riding across. So many riders, after only 30min of riding, were digging their edge in to then slam high speed into the hard pipe wall. Even the side-slippers, who did many laps trying to smooth things out, would catch their edge and face plant.

The riding conditions were hard but still some riders managed to land their competition runs and stand out from the rest. US's golden boy, Shawn White, didn't seem affected by the slushy mogul field and as for the ladies, Australia's sweetheart, Torah Bright, was riding high. I saw our Canadian Team put together some nice runs and Mercedes and Sarah were going big compared to the rest of the girls.

One more day of practice to go today after we watch the women's snowboard-cross. I'm hoping that Maelle Ricker and Dominique Maltais make us proud by jumping on the highest steps of the podium.

The forecast is calling for more rain in the next hours as well as freezing levels going up. Not too good for the pipe crews to try to makes the World's most beautiful Olympic pipe over night.

Here are a few more photos of our pipe team.

Day 4

(La version française suit)

There will be no embellishments in my blog, I will be telling it like it is. Yesterday was the first day of practice finally and there was only one word that the riders used to describe the pipe within only a few minutes into practice: “Shitty”. The lack of snow, severe rain and now dry conditions has made the snow in the pipe almost impossible to work with for the grooming crew. The dry conditions yesterday have sucked all the moisture out of the snow, which made the snow crumble the minute the riders jumped into the pipe. It was a frustrating site as riders were so excited to finally start training after days of waiting and now were having a hard time doing average size straight airs all the way down the pipe, not even doing tricks. It was definitely the survival of the fittest.

I spoke to the master pipe cutter Steve Petrie by the pipe yesterday and the weather gods have not been on their side these past few weeks. They started working on the pipe at 2:30am yesterday morning knowing that this weather change was going to make it hard to groom a perfect 22foot Olympic pipe. A local pass holder for over 20 years said that this was the worst snow season she has ever seen by far. Getting there yesterday I was surprised in how bare the mountain was looking. Only snow where the moguls and snowboarding events are being held, unlike Whistler Mountain where they are having a record year. The few degrees in temperature really makes a huge difference.

We’ll see how the pipe holds today, as it was able to settle and freeze over night. I’m sure it will be much better. The pipe practice has already been moved to a later time hoping for colder temperatures. The whole Canadian National team was looking really good in their Olympic outfits from RipZone, the best looking team by far. But besides the huge security line-ups and travel complications to get to Cypress, the training session didn’t feel like we were at the Olympics.

Let’s see how the pipe looks for tonight’s session, already the snowboard-cross course looks more then amazing as we watch their qualification rounds.

Day 3.

Starting off strong with Jennifer Heil winning silver on Cypress in the rain. Now it’s up to our fellow snowboarders to it the slopes today in the first half-pipe training session later this afternoon. Rumors are that the pipe is looking really good even with 60mm of rain to have fallen on the site in the past 24 hours.

Brad Martin has been enjoying his time off, resting and hanging out in the Athlete Village in Vancouver. When I spoke to him last night he was playing Playstation in the athlete lounge with teammates. The past few days have been spent inside the village walls, resting, doing some media interviews and getting fitted for Opening Ceremony clothing. Everybody is loving the athlete village, the huge apartment with only 2 athletes per room are so spacious that Brad sometimes never sees his roommate, Justin Lamoureux, during the day. His apartment will sell after the Games for 5 million $. The food is really good too and luckily there’s a McDonald’s so Brad doesn’t have to go far to get his fix.

Yesterday was the first day that Brad left the “Castle Walls” to go into the real world to meet-up with his mom and girl friend to spend the day checking-out the city. It’s so busy in the streets, buzzing with people and different activities around Vancouver. He was anxious to get back into his comfortable quiet bubble at the Athlete Village. Brad is feeling really good for the first day of training today and he’ll also have lots of support for the Big Day where his mother, father, girl friend, brother and 4 best childhood friends will be there to cheer him on.

Keep you posted on the pipe riding tomorrow.

http://www.elansnowboards.com//team/blogs/dominiquevallee/-/2/2010/olympic-blogshttp://www.elansnowboards.com//team/blogs/dominiquevallee/-/2/2010/olympic-blogs<![CDATA[Olympic Blogs]]>Here are some blogs that I have been writing for the R.M.P. companies during the Games. It's been crazy here inbetween Vancouver and Whistler. Been riding the pipe at Cypress as well and forerunning since I missed the Canadian Olympic Halfpipe team. Making the best of it for sure.

here it goes: I'm starting with day 1.

Feb.13th,

Opening ceremony, and day 2 of The Olympic Games.

The moment has come! After 7 years of planning, building and 106 days of torch relaying across the country, finally, we celebrate the Opening Ceremony at BC Place last night. The Ceremony was a tribute to the beauty of Canada, its native cultures and of course, all the World Class athletes. This time, the athletes came in early so they can enjoy the show as well and be inspired by the performers and speeches such as the very moving words of John Furlong. To finished things off, Gretzky takes off with the Flame, riding the back of a pick-up….. doesn’t get more Canadian then that!

I did have a chance to catch-up with Mercedes late last night. The Canadian half-pipe team moved into the athlete village in downtown Vancouver on the 10th, in all new spacious apartments with a killer view. Mercedes says it sounds really echo with only her teammate, Sarah Conrad, and the bare minimum to furnish the rooms. After the Games, these high priced apartments will be put on the market.

Mercedes has loved every minute of it since she got here. She did mention that she preferred the uniforms from the Opening Ceremony in the 2006. But her favorite stylish countries were by far Slovenia, looking good in their Green ensemble and Great Britain always dressed to impress.

Because of difficult snow conditions, the first 2 days of practice for the pipe event has been cancelled up on Cypress. So today is another day off for our favorite pipe riders Brad Martin and Mercedes Nicoll. Tomorrow is where it all begins. Men’s pipe event is on the 16th and women’s on the 17th.

Let’s just hope the weather is on our side.

More news to come.

I had a pretty riding-full weekend… On Friday morning I went to Mayrhofen to check out the set up for the Sista Sessions, for which I was in charge of the photoshoot. Actually I wanted to stay there for the whole time, but my plans changed as I could join a night session of MOG productions. So I left Mayrhofen in the afternoon and headed straight on to a little valley beyond Seefeld. We were shoveling a “quarner” (mixture between quarter and corner) on a parking lot for about 3 hours. That was already pretty exhausting, but we were riding it until 1 o clock in the night - pulling each other with the car to get the speed. Fun session for sure!

After a short sleep (my body was still kind of sleeping and I could feel every single muscle) I drove back to Mayrhofen for the TTR 3 Star Sista Sessions. In the morning we did a photoshoot with all the invited riders, like Lisa Filzmoser, Tania Detomas, Basa Stevulova. Meanwhile the qualifying heats took place. It was great to see that 36 girls inscribed with a pretty high riding level. In the afternoon the Sista Sessions finished up with the Finals, where the 6 invited and 8 qualified riders rode together. In the end, the vid clip winner and my Elan Chicas teammate, Urska Pribosic, won! I was stoked to get 5th after such two long riding days… On Sunday I didn’t move from the couch at all!!

was the final stop of the Big Air tour. In the really cold weather the snow
on the ramp got transformed to almost pure ice. And I was really happy to
land my first jump of the competition. On the second one I pushed it a bit
to far as the icy conditions did not allow any mistakes. I finished just 0.9
of a point short to reach the finals, so I finished on 15th place.
At the start of the season before the World Cup even started, I was not even
thinking of competing this year. But after the first week on snow on
Hintertux I got really motivated to ride. That's way I decided to sign up to
the first two events in London and in Barcelona. After the good results I
just followed the tour to Stockholm, than Seoul and to the last stop in
Quebec City. I was quite consistent with the jumps so all my results were
among top 15. That brought some good points for the World Cup Standing's for
Big Air and finished the season on the final 3rd place. So stoked!!!
When I am writing this one quote comes to my mind that I hear in a surf
movie long ago - 'You can not make it, if you do not try.'

Not only has Whistler been having the best year ever for snow but we are also having the Olympic Games in our back yard starting in a few days now. It's crazy to be here, a huge part of Whistler is closed for the ski racing events, Vancouver is so clean you could eat off the sidewalk and there's blue Vanoc workers everywhere you go from Sea to Sky. PLus there's hilicopters flying around us surveying all the time as well as road closure and no parking in Whistler starting right now. So I guess there's some good and bad to it all.

I didn't make the Canadian Olympic pipe team after all this. But lots has happened in the past little while and I guess it's time to go ride powder with friends finally and leave the pipe contests on the side for now. I'll be forerunning the pipe so I'll still get to hang out with all my friends during the training and event and live it live.

It's really crazy that after 7 years of Olympic planning for British Columbia that it's all finally here and happening.

Keep you guys posted,

I'm running with the Olympic Torch in a few days in Squamsih. That will be pretty amazing and stoke-up the Olympic Spirit for sure.

The day started with waking up at 6:30 am,what is really early for a student, to drive to Ehrwald and hopefully get some more training runs. Just arrived there the park was not ready to rock. So we, my friend Jakob Messner and I did some runs through the mini kickerline. After one and a half hours, the kickerline opened for the training. I had three training runs and immediately after that the contest began. After I've watched the other guys in the training I didn't expect to finish at a top position. So the first part of the contest began. Every rider had three runs and two of them counted. So I didn't stick my first run and had to ride safe lines in the following two runs. I sticked the two runs by doing a FS 540 to CAP 720 combo, and a FS 720 to BS RODEO 5 combo. With this two runs I qualified for the finals where every rider had two runs and just one run counted. I sticked my first run a FS 720 to big BS RODEO 5 and tried a FS 900 to Cap 720 combo in the second run but didn't stick the second line. Finally I was lucky and got third!!! I'm very happy about that result, because this was my first competition this year and I knocked out some really good riders. Here are the results and a picture of the price giving.

cheers Patrick

We started really nice but small jibsessions in the streets. Now our crew chredani became a new fotographer, Joe, who is 42 years old and has the best stuff on planet earth i think. Snowboarding is not his normal bizness but day after day he gets better and knows what we want to have. Thanks Joe for all your engagement and having the time to hang around with us.

We decided to ride spots where we dont need an inrun or the winch, it was because of the time and the other dudes were surfing in marocco, so only Chris, Joe and me had the time to shoot and get some new footage for our Elan Europe Teammovie "Honk if you like it". The trailer we will present at Ispo in february. Therefor we shootet in Witten, my Hometown, in Westgermany, in Oberhausen and in Sprockhövel. A nice place with really nice spots if you have the speed!

Now the times changed, the snow is away, and we start this night going to shred and test the latest products from 2011 in Zams, Landeck(A). The collection is so sick cant wait to ride all the stuff and especially our bindings. Hope you enjoy your board and we see us on the montains while chilling around, going big or just having a shred. Take care!

Now we are just chilling and waiting for the shredizzle tomorrow.

In those early dayes i've been hiking around the mountains, trying to follow my dad witch was pretty hard without snow shoes. I also been riding park with the "rock on snowboard tour" in les 2 Alpes or Avoriaz and the "Boarderweek" in Val thorens. And for sure there is nothing better than stomping a trick.... Last week end we organise the "opening BBQ session" in Chamrousse France; it was a good rail session but as the organiser i spend my time speacking on the mic , shooting pictures, judging, BBing... Here is a shot from the resort freestyle team that i'm suppose to manage.

Last but not least:
The big news for me is that we start a snowboard vidéo production called harakiri. Our goal is to mix big french names with underground riders to push the french snowboard scene on the european front line. Have a look at the web site: harakiriprod.com

I wish every one a good year of snowboarding!!!

The long trip from Europe with more than 15 hours in the air was exhausting. But there was a nice surprise waiting for us there. The riders hotel was the Grand Hyatt in Seoul. A five star hotel with five restaurants. After two days of really good food and city tours it was time for the competition. The construction was build in the center square in Seoul City and there were around 50.000 spectators to see the show. Crazy!

I made it threw the qualies to the finals and ended up on 7th place. After I sticked the Cab9 I went for the BS10, but the jump was a bit to small to make it perfect.

This result got me to the 3rd place in the Standings, so I was happy never the less.

Check the photos.

Strait after surfing in Zarautz Spain in end of September, I was already in Hintertux for the snow action.

And the first days offered some perfect conditions. It was really warm, with soft slushy landing and hard takeoffs. I was really fun to shred with Marko Grilc there.

From there we went to London Freeze 2009, a snowboard, ski and music festival in old Battersea Power Station. And to jump in the finals in front of 15,000 people was really something special. In the end I finished 4th and I was super happy about it. Especially that I landed both of my tricks the BS10 and the CAB9.

From there again some day on snow on Tux and then to Barcelona Snow Show 2009 at The Olympic Stadium Lluis Companys. They have built the biggest construction yet with a 35 meter high ramp. I finished in the unlucky 11th place and just missed the finals. But the level was really high and you really needed a pefect 1080 to get in.

When we came back the park in Dachstein was ready so we moved there, as there was also the 4 star TTR Slopestyle Pleasure Jam and made it threw to the finals. Was a really nice event, just the weather was changing really quickly, so we had a mix of sun and fog. We had also our premiere of Loveolution movie at the Blue Tomato Party in Schladming...

The last thing in November was The Winter Jam in Sweden. As it's usually quite cold there in this time of the year, the organization of the did not bring enough snow for the warm temperatures, they had to cancel the Fridays training and made everything on Saturday. They just barely got the thing done as the snow was melting as fast as the Ice-cream in the hot summer :).

I still made it to the finals and finished on 7th place. So now after three events I am on the 5th place in Word Cup Standings.

So next stop will be Seoul - South Korea on the 13th of December. So till then.

Later m.

Coming to New Zealand in August, we all saw the progression of pipe, as the new trick to do was a spin off of a double and then to link it with another double cork something… I’ve seen so many guys do doubles in the past few months that if you don’t do one for the Games, you pretty much have no chance.

But we weren’t that lucky for weather in August, we all went back home to go take care of business for a month. I spent lots of time in Toronto for the first time ever, doing fun stuff with MTV for our new documentary show “Over the Bolts”. Then I came back once again and did a week session with the RBC Olympians. For 4 weeks I was running around on the East Coast and getting everything sorted out with my dad in Montreal. Oh, and I moved back in with him as well!

Finally, I hopped on a plane to go back to NZ to go meet-up with the rest of the National Team that were already here. I was so tired from my month at home that I couldn’t wait to get back here and sleep at last. Who goes on a snowboard trip to catch-up on Zzzzz’s really?
Finally, after a little detour in Tokyo….not the most direct route to NZ from Canada let me tell you… I landed once again in Queenstown where Sarah picked me up with Hugo to drive us back to our new house for the next few weeks. There is still so much snow here; I think that there is even more snow then when I left a month ago.

Get to the house and it’s ….how can I describe it??? There are 12 of us staying here: Brad, Jeff, Justin, Dustin, Hugo, Charles, for girls: Sarah, Palmer and myself and coaches: Jesse Fulton, Chris Decoste and Brian Smith. All living together under a same roof and it actually works great. We’ve only been here for 4 days now but it’s been amazing, perfect weather, perfect pipe. We get sled rides up to do pipe laps. There aren’t to many pipe riders here but a few Euros’, from Poland to Spain. Japan is getting here next week with France and Shawn White has been nailing his double to double every run.

Here a re few photos of our XXX-Treme day where we went to do the bridge bungy, jet boating and canyon swing.

So far, this might be the best snowboard trip ever!

Talk soon.

and jo: its not a commercial break only interesting for all shred/surf heads !!!

Bottrop.

Spring riding back in Austria was pretty much fun:
Serfaus made me like jibbing at least a bit… haha. I was also riding at Stubai, Kaunertal and Hintertux Glacier few times, but it was pretty slushy that I decided to get some sun on my belly. I visited Lisa in Upper Austria. After spending some days at her beautiful home hanging in the sun, jumping on the trampoline and trying to walk on the slack line we went to Burgenland for a wine testing and then on to Balaton (Plattensee) in Hungary. A friend of us invited us to stay at her dad´s holiday house. Sweet! On our way back we stopped in Budapest for an original Hungarian goulash and stayed one day in Vienna. Vienna is just awesome!! Me like J

Beginning of June 686 invited Marco and me to come over to LA to shoot the new Ads and get some website filming done. Although it was a long trip for just three days it was definitely worth it! We had one day off where we went shopping and to the beach… I can´t get enough of the smell of the ocean! Hihi! So I think I´m heading to France soon to get my surfboard out of the cellar back to action… have a nice summer!!

The weather was not perfect the first 3 days, but on sunday it cleared up and it was the first bluebird since Dachstein opened... awesome!

I'm still a bit handycapped but it's getting better and I hope I can start all over again in fall.

In the afternoons we went somewhere in the woods/fields/waters to do some lifestyle shooting which was always very funny...

Then go back to our condo, have some lunch and then at 2 we have Parcour training....... Yup, freestyle walking/jumping around everywhere, climbing walls and fences all over Mammoth Village, everybody looking at us weird. This get’s you into shape real fast and it’s a fun work-out. I find it’s sort of the games that you used to play when you’re a kid. The first day of Parcour, I got huge blisters on the palm of my hands. That’s what you get when you walk more on your hands then on your feet during a workout. Now I have to wear gloves to do everything.

On our days off we go to the natural hot-springs or play tennis and work on our tans by the pool.
It’s been really great.
Here till Monday and then I leave for a mini time off in Montreal with my family.
Hope you everybody is doing great and enjoying the summer time.

I’m back from sunny California. It was an amazing trip with an awesome crew: Julia, Diana, Cilka, Cecilia, Sarka and Lisa, who joined us a little later. We spent our first night in LA. Before heading to June we went shopping in 3rd Street and refreshing our tired feet in the ocean. With tons of fresh energy we were driving down to the mountains. The next few days the Chicken Jam took place in Mammoth: First day was just a training day… Unfortunately Cecilia bruised her back pretty badly and she was off for the rest of the trip. That was a bummer! Next day was a long, long day. It started with the Slopestyle Qualifier and after a short lunch break some of us also competed in the Halfpipe Qualification. Lucky me I made it into both Semi Finals. With a 3rd place in Halfpipe and a 6th and last qualifying spot in Slopestyle.

On the next day, Saturday, it continued with the Halfpipe Semis and Finals. It was another sunny day with a perfect shaped pipe - for Europeans standard – haha. I had tons of fun riding it and even did pretty good. I made it into the Finals and in the end I got 8th. Stoked! Sunday was supposed to be the Slopestyle day, but due to heavy storms it got postponed to the next day. Our bodies were happy about a day off though. The wind was gone on Monday and the competition could take place as planned. The park consisting of a hip, a jib, three kickers in a role and two wallride options in the end, was fun to ride. Nobody out of our crew made it into the finals even some had really nice runs, but the level was pretty charging. Our young rocker Sarka broke her collarbone on her first run… Another injury bummer! I’ve never seen such a tough girl like her – no tears, no complaining, nothing as a big smile still!

Chicken Jam was over – MS Superpark was on. The next three days we spent riding in June. We were a bit tired of the last days so we started the whole thing pretty slowly. Besides that half of the crew was injured, Julia was suffering from a bruised heel as well. Anyways on the second day we had a great sunset hip session and on the last day we were handplanting the quarter… Last night – party night! After a delicious sushi dinner we were dancing the night away at the Nikita party in Lakanuki… Our “holidays” were almost over but there was still another day in LA to go: We love Veniceeee! Peace, love & happiness, conny

It's sunny and warm and so much fun to ride. The contest season it's at it's end and it's time to shoot some photos and hang out with friends.

After the Europe trip I went back to MOntreal and did a NSowboard Canada trip called Eastern Pipe Trip with 4 boys and me. Was so fuuny not matter what we did and even if the weather wasn't really on our side we got some pretty good stuff. From Vermont, I went straight to MOnt-Tremblant to do our NAtionals. I finished 3rd after hurting myself in qualifyers hooking my heal edge on top of the not so perfect pipe and doing a scorpion to the bottom. I was able to suck it up for the Finals to finish the day off. The next day I went to see all my friends at the Empire Shakedown event. Was so fun to see everybody on my way to Quebec City for our National Team Qualifyers. Nest year is the Olympic year so we have to do everything by the book and not miss a step. The pipe in Stoneham was amazing and 22 feet but we had to hike all day since the moutain was closed but they kept grooming the pipe for us. Really tireing but still great riding. Finished the camp pretty tired on the day of my birthday but we still managed to go to Maurice in Quebec City and have an amazing time dancing the night away till the wee hours of the morning......... The next day I was being tired and I enjoyed that day off more then ever with my family for Easter.

I finally came back to Squamish a few days ago not having been here all year right on time for the Ski and Snowboard Festival her ein Whistler. Also known as the best time of the year but more then the slopes to enjoy everyday. The village in booming and everybody is out ready for the next concert to play, art show to happen and also the Grenade Games are starting on Monday 4/20 of course.

Been up sledding a little trying to get some last back-country action before everything warmes-up for good. I always forget how sore you get when you're not used to sledding.

ONly have a few funny photos of friends.

Talk to you soon.

happy Spring.

We built this huuuge step up kicker, for two days and a 45 min hike to get there. And on the third day we tried our best to hit the jump with as much speed as we could, but it didnt work, the compression just through us weird on to the deck and sometimes we even knockled. Three days of really hard work, but we were still laughing about it.

From there I went with the Helly Hansen team to Selkirk Wilderness. It is a cat boarding operation in interior BC. An amazing place! We got some freshies during the week and had a lot of fun riding through the trees and pillows. Amazing dinners and food in the cat. I am not sure if we burned all that during the week. Our new HH teammember JP Solberg bought some fireworks on the way, they helped us to do some 007 spion stuff and lighting up some dead trees.

After this highlight i went to June Mt, to go to Ms Superpark by Snowboarder mag and to hang out with my lovely euro girrls Conny, Julia, Diana, Sarka, Silka and Cecilia. The Chicken Jam was one day delayed so I decided to take part too. It was a fun course and I was happy with my riding. For Ms Superpark we had a fun set up. I liked the hip and the quarter the most. And we had a rad party at Lakanuki. Free drinks and fun dancin! Next stop was Salt Lake City. I had three sunny days of filming with Raewyn. Unfortunatley the powder there got pretty baked. But we did a lot of stuff. Built a sick kicker and hit some pillows and drops, and the next day we built a hip and a little backflip kicker. That day it went from icecrust to heavy snow during the day. But it was a fun productive day, so we were happy.

Love

Our Elan Chicas photo shooting and Camp was great times for sure. On the first day we enjoyed tons of fresh pow pow and did some “off slope” shots: drops and a wallride until it got dark. On the weekend the Elan Chicas Camp took place in the Jurrasic Park. We went riding with the Italian girls, doing Yoga session with Dom on the bottom of the lift, had fun sessions in the park, and so on… having a good time!

The following week I spent in bed: sick times! I felt better on Saturday and could take part in the Frozen Water Jam at Nordpark, but unfortunately I couldn’t do the surfing part of that event as the recent years. It’s a team challenge and the KIT-Girls were the only girls team. We won! WoOoOoW!

Yesterday I just went riding in Serfaus with friends… It was awesome! It’s been a long time riding a park though and that park is just amazing. An entire slope with obstacles of any kind… it feels a bit like riding in US… Apropos US I’m leaving on Tuesday to Mammoth and June! Wohoooo…

There was another TTR 3Star Event in Alpendorf 2 weeks ago.

It was so cool to have a international Starterfield, from Norway, France, Ecuador, Bulgaria, Germany and for sure Austria.

I had 2 perfect runs in the final with bs 7 to fs 9 and fs5 to sw bs 9.

At the end I was very happy about the 2nd place and the cash for sure.

See ya soon!

I got there a few days early since I was coming from Montreal and then the bad weather came in with lots and lots of rain but it meant lots of snow in the mountains. Alberto, the Italian Artec/Elan distributor who was putting on the entire camp had to take care of me since I was there alone till the whole crew rolled in a few days later. We had an amazing powder day discovering the mountain in almost too deep snow. By Thursday night, the girls, Sami the photographer and Dragan rolled in right on time for a massive Italian dinner at our hotel. Woke up the next morning with once again lots of snow and decided to go explore a few spots on our 4 wheels snow machine that we had for the day. The sun peaked out by early afternoon and made things picture perfect but dangerous for avalanches. We got out of the woods and decided to go hit the mountain and the girls did a wall ride in the tunnel. Made for a sweet shot with all the flashes at night.
Day 2 we went to Jurassic Park and rode with all the local Italians and started out Chicas camp with about 20 ladies and then that night we judge a rail contest and gave the sweet Elan prizes at the disco that night where more then shirts went down on the dance floor…till the wee hours of the morning for some of our crew.
Day 3 was a bit of a later start with the Chicas camp still in full effect with all the girls hitting rails and jumps. After lunch Lisa, Conny and I went to hit this church drop in one of the near by villages to get another shot. It was pretty fun and so peaceful till Lisa scared us all on her last jump. She was fine but we all decided to call it after that one. We packed all our stuff and everybody hit the road to go back home. I had one last amazing pizza with Alberto before he dropped me off for my night train for Vienna. I was sad to leave everybody again and already thinking about next year’s reunion.
Off to Vienna for 2 days, then took a plane to Barcelona to go up to La Molina for a Half Pipe World Cup. Got there 2 days later because of so many plane delays but the weather was perfect and the pipe was soft even at 8 in the morning. Had fun riding the slush and the contest went ok, 11th, but still I wanted to do better. That afternoon we took the train back to Barcelona to go stay with friends. That night I realized how little the Spanish eat and they mostly drink. I didn’t feel that good the next morning but only remembered I had an amazing night. We toured around for 3 amazing days.
Tuesday morning we took a flight to Milan, rented a car and off to Portofino for a day to see the Italian coast. Wow!!!!!! And it was dead season so it was even better. The next day we drove up to Valmalenco in the middle of crazy Milan traffic that never ends and went back for the World Cup Finals. This time it was a bit colder then the past few days so the whole mountain was just really icy. I had a hard time in this pipe with the backside not having enough vert. I feel so hard about 10 times, decking every time I would do a backside trick. I finished 10th this time which puts me in a good spot for the Olympics for next year.
Once again we left that afternoon and decided to go to Como Lake for our last day. Crazy beautiful and felt like I was in a movie. Spent my last afternoon walking Milano were the streets were so busy you could barely go anywhere. Finally I flew out of Malpenza yesterday morning to go back to Montreal.
It was the busiest, yet the most amazing European adventure ever.
Here are a few photos of the Chicas Camp and the rest.
Ciao

I've been looking forward to this since 3 months and today the day has come... after my surgery in December I was riding again :D

I was disappointed to miss the Elan Chicas Camp in Italy (waiting for some pix), I'd really like to finally meet all the girls! But it would have been to early for me by then... I was training like crazy every day the last 2 weeks... cycling, jogging, swimming, gym... But it went better every day and I'm quite strong again. I still can't fully bend the knee but my doctor said it will still take a few weeks...

So I had to be careful today but I nevertheless had so much fun and it felt better with every run! It was SOO good to back on snow again! Besides, the weather was perfect today and I was riding with 5 other girls, all good friends of mine, with whom I'd never been riding all together... It was so much fun! It was a really good day today, it gave me a lot :)

... it already started positive in the morning, as a police officer let me go without paying after getting me way to fast and without driving licence available... ;)

Now I'm looking so much 4ward to my next trip, which will already start in one week, when I'll be going to San Francisco :) ... Lake Tahoe *jippie*

Keeping u update..

Cheers, Jasmin

ps: more pix coming soon

I’m back from my trip to Lebanon. It was awesome!! The people there are super friendly, a beautiful country and our crew was just a perfect match. Although we only had one sunny day where the whole resort was opened, there was a lot of stuff to do in town… we made some good pictures and enjoyed Lebanese life! It’s definitely worth going there!!

We arrived back home in Innsbruck at Saturday night. Julia and I competed on the next morning in the Austrian Masters Halfpipe. Julia got 2nd and Austrian Master, I won! How crazy is that! Tomorrow I’m off to Italy for the Elan Chicas Photoshooting. Sweeeet!

last weekend we had some shootings around my hometown. Pretty sick cause there is SSSSSSOOOOOOOO much snow some obstacles was fully covered with snow. so we tried a wallride over a fence - you see what happened - so we turned it into a bombdrop. Then there was a session on a scetchy rail with a latern at the end which i hit like 4 out of five timesand a session with absolutly no snow over a wall.

This was the funny part. on Thuesday a message hit me like a slap in my face. A good friend died in an avalanche in Flachauwinkl. R.I.P. buddy --> never forget your.

WOW! It’s snowing since one week and it doesn’t look like it’s already over! My home resort Nordpark got 2,5 meters of snow in 3 days! That’s just amazing!! I went riding fresh pow pow every day… On Saturday I drove with my friends Julia and Flori to East Tyrol for a little TTR 2 Star Slopestyle. In-between those incredible powder days we spent one day riding in a perfect park (3 kickers in a role) in sunny conditions. On the top of it Julia and I won it ex aequo!! We were stoked! And it was valentine day. haha. When we arrived back home in Innsbruck there was my lovely boyfriend waiting for me with a delicious dinner, roses and a beer! hihi. The night ended up on the dancefloor with few KIT-Girls and lots of homies. Oh what a wonderful day!!

In two days I’m gonna fly to Lebanon together with Julia, Diana, Thea and Carlos the photographer. We are doing a story for some Euro girls’ mags!! I’m so excited! I’ll hit you up when I’m back in town! Hope you got some snow as well! Smile

P.S.: Did I mention that I’ve submitted my thesis to the examination office?! Done!!

hope you’re all enjoying the snow!

It’s going pretty good with my knee. I started therapy a week ago and I must say I’m really happy with the improvement. I tried to train my muscles on my own, because there wasn’t a free space for therapy and I got it very late. So I’m quite strong again. The problem was I couldn’t fully stretch the leg (so I was walking awkwardly) and bend it only 90° or sth. Now after one week I can fully stretch and bend about 115°. I’m training every day and I’m positive for a “quick” recovery.

I got the chance to judge a contest a few weeks ago. I was brought with a sleight because I couldn’t walk well by then (picture). It was funny to participate such an event from an different perspective but it was also hard to watch the kids jibbing around while sitting still and arguing about stupid points…

I visited ISPO as well, but did’t stay there very long because it was pretty exhausting for my knee... just to meet the people and say hello to everybody. It was also nice to meet Dragan!

What else? Well, I finished my bachelor degree at university and got a part time job… It’s really impressing how much spare time I have now when I’m not able to snowboard… but that will hopefully change soon ;) I booked a flight to San Francisco at the end of March and plan to go riding at Northstar and Sierra. I really hope I’ll be fine by then and looking forward to it very much.

So have a nice time,

cheersy

In the evening we tried a container but there was absolutly no snow so we built the quater out of palettes and the inrun was as wide as one and a half boards and we pulled in with a 160 ps car which definitly is NO FUN AT ALL. On Sunday Evening we were hitting a wallride and on Monday a street a-frame.

At the Wallride everything went wrong. At my first try i broke my bindings :-( so i decided to film. after a while the generator went out of gas. We had a little bit left in a canister. Finally we ripped off the starter of the engine of our brandnew Winch, which pulls you up to 40 km/h. So i was pretty happy i got a (even if not perfect) shot at the first try.

By the way i just got my Elan Answer back so i had to go with the nitro board of a friend of mine.

This year started great for the southern side of Alps. Already in early season Vogel got 2m base. And past snowfall just got the level to 3,5m. On one resort next to Vogel called Kanin they got 8,8m! Today we got some blue sky's and it was so much fun to do some runs with Domen and Bine. Tomorrow another low pressure system will stop here to bring some more powder and in the next days it is supposed to stay cold, which means that some more backcountry action will take place for us. But more on that in the next one.
Check the photos.

I am here since the 26th of January. Before that I went to Aspen with Conny and Claudia, to do the X Games. I was so exited to do them. But unfortunatly I couldnt because I got really sick. Puked the whole first night through in Aspen and then went to the hospital in the morning and got infusions and antibiotics. After some days I felt good. We went to watch the finals and we were so stoked when Jenny Jones won. Right now I am enjoying Utah. I had some great days here filming for the new girls movie "Stance" with Jenny Jones, Hana Beaman and Kimmy Fasani. We were really lucky, we got some powder, a lot of sunshine and a good crew. We went to ski resorts like Brighton and Snowbird and sledding in the backcountry around Salt Lake. It is soo much fun! Just if the sled is not working or if it gets stuck. One time I jumped of the sled, because it was really steep through trees and thought i would totally crash into one. So I was jumping off luckily the sled made it save to the trail and was waiting for me ... Haha What an awesome area around here, I had no idea there is so much to do! In the first week we built four kickers, and we all got shots. niiice. We did some fun cliffs and drops. And now we are pretty beat up and tired, but it should snow the next days. And so we can go scope and hopefully the sun comes back before I go back to Austria.

last saturday i went to rijeka (croatia) for a rail contest. it took me like 5 1/2 hours to get there. It was a good session with a lot of good rider like Baszi from Hungary, Wojtech from Poland, Nejc, Langus and Tim from Slovenia, Lazyo from Bulgaria and so on. I was pretty stoked to get into the finals but messed up the final runs so i got 9th at the end.

Back home we did a few street spots. The last spot was the ugliest obstacle ever. it was a flat-down ledge without inrun and without landing. Oh there was i landing...a small river. I wanted to go over it....i guess you can imagin what happend...

I hope everybody’s having a good time. I would say I do have! I just got back from Aspen. Lisa was invited for the X-games and she took me with her as her “coach” (aka coach conny). Lucky me! Unfortunately Lisa got sick the first night and suffered from a bad kidney bladder infection. I tried to get her back on board but I it took quite a while. So she missed out the comp, but the slopestyle looked really gnarly anyways! Well, next year she’s going extreme then. Hihi. Nevertheless we made the best out of it and enjoyed our pimp apartment and one powder day together.

Before this trip we were in Switzerland for the BEO. I competed in both disciplines: slopestyle and halfpipe. In the slopestyle I couldn’t get my run done, but in the pipe at least I qualified for the semi-finals, but didn’t do too well then. Sometimes it’s like that… it was definitely fun riding and worth going there.

So, now I´m back home, gonna watch the Air&Style, heading to Munich for the ISPO for 2 days and then going on a trip direction east… still gotta figure out more! Stay tuned…

So back from austria we had a lot of snow in westgermany in "ruhrpott". the last big snowfall was like 10 years ago here, so i did some spotchecks and some easy jibs for a videopart.

We found an awesome high bombdrop in Essen City. You had to jump from a bridge towards some trees.( 4 meters high) It was a scetchy landing from about 5 meters long and afterwards a big Street. 2 guys checked the street and if there was no car you hab about 5 seconds to clean the trick.

I did only 5 tries then my back sended S.O.S- but i cleaned...

P.s. the nxt spot we do next week.its a nice train to jib.

We were at the Volcom Peanut butter railjam where i reached the finals...you can see fotos and video here: http://www.volcom.com/pbrj/eventArticle.asp?articleID=199

After that i was a lot of street riding in and around vienna. The highlights were a downrail on hirschenkogel which took us until half past 5 in the morning to finish...i was soooooo exhausted cause i was working the whole day but at least i've got a shot :-D

the following day we were at a downrail which really pissed me on. So i didn't clear it at all.

Then a nice session with a good friend of mine in my homevillag in lower austria in a fence :-D VERY VERY SKATCHY but i did it.

Last weekend i was 2 days on stuhleck. In the evening we wanted to go streetriding again. First i had to go 20 km in the wrong direction to get our brandnew generator. than 30 km to the spot, just to recognize that i forgot the camera. so back 10 km and back again with the camera. when i was there my friends already prepared everything. First speedcheck than we were chased away by some local guys...

That were pretty much my last few weeks. On Friday i'm going to Rijeka for a railcontest and than ISPO....

They were hosting the World Championships here so I came to do the pipe event.

It was so fun to ride in the warm sun for a change and the pipe was small but really good. Was great to see everybody at last and even Matevz and Slovenian company who came to do the Big Air.

Besides riding, Kareoke, bowling and Dance Dance Revolution video game was what we usually didin-between sessions. Its the hardest thing ever to test your dance skills with a machine and with a local KOrean kid that grew up bouncing up and down and learning all the dance moves.

Anyways, I didn't do to good in the pipe, but such is life, I'll just have to redeem myself later . But the rest of the Canadian Crew did really well in BX, Race and pipe. Jeff Batchelor got second in pipe so that ended with more debauchery that night.

A few girls and I decided to ends things at the fabulous resort at last and go to Seoul for some serious shopping. We left early yesterday morning to find ourselves trying to figure out our hotel downtown somewhere, asking people and walking aorund in -20 something. So cold there it was amazing.

But we found our home for the night, dropped our stuff and went on our missiona and were quite succesful. We evenhad amazing food finally and ended our Korean trip with an Idian Feast last night.

So we all came to the airport early as we all had different flights all over the World and now I'm left alone with my luggage since it's way to early to check in for my Montreal flight.

Here a re a few photos from there.

Ciao

The Qualification for Snowboarders was in the little Jibpark on Saturday.

After I get up at 4 o'clock in the morning to bring Jasmin home and pick up a friend of mine we arrived in the park at about 10 o'clock. The Park and every slope was sooooo icy it wasn't fun at all. So i didn't really care about the contest. everything that counts was NOT BAILING.

The first Run i did a Onefooted run through the Park. This was maybe not the best idea cause i had my jibboard with me which doesn't have edges at all. The second run was a little bit better.

After the Qualification i was riding the park until the end. Then they told me i'm in the finals. Very cool but i was sooooo tired already and totally unmotivated.

The Finals took place at the parking space on a hugh double kinked rail a pipe and enormous kinked box.

In the training i tried all obstacles but everybody concentrated on the pipe and so did I. During the Finals it had like -18°C and it was even harder than on the mountain. So i was more unmotivated than in the qualification and finally got 17th :-(

That was sad, but we still made the best out of it: enjoying the training day on Friday, watching the qualification and afterwards relaxing in the spa and having a delicious dinner all together. On Saturday after it got postponed I went riding with my lovely parents who came along to visit me. That was awesome! At night we were dancing hiding behind masks in the huge castle in Kaprun. Funny party for sure!! A little tired at the next day’s breakfast we received the message that the wind is still too strong to let the event happen...

The week before Christmas I was riding deepest powder on my home mountain with friends. Wohoooo!! Then I went home to Munich to celebrate Christmas with my family. Coming back after three days to get back on board… But where?! The powder got a crusty layer and the slopes and parks were pretty icy. Anyways I went riding at Nordpark and Vans Penken Park, which is pretty amazing. Going back there the next days before leaving to Laax for the European Open… Happy new year to everybody!!

P.S.: More pictures gonna follow. They are still developing. Analog is the new 2009!

The week before christmas I was on a trip to Sofia with my Crew for some shooting and a Jib Session in the city, we were all very excited about it (Thanks to Niko - in summer he is shaper at Dachstein - for the invitation)

The days before the session we went to a mountain near the City to jib some pipes which the lokals brought there... It was funny and as it began to snow it seemed perfect... Unfortunately, I jumped onto the pipe to end the session, which I should have finished earlier... I edged in and twisted my knee... it was a quick strong pain which eased within seconds. I thought I was lucky until my knee went really big in the evening. I couldn't bend nor stretch it. So I was spending the next day in the hostel with the nice company of ice cubes, cooling bags and injury salve. The next day I went to hospital in Sofia. They gave me one crutch, a bar (which, by the way, broke the following day) and said I should be going home asap because there's definitely some damage in my knee :(
I was happy that my insurance paid for an earlier flight to Vienna. I was also lucky, that my boyfriend's (Rudi/Rockafella) sister is a doctor so she could speed up the whole procedure. I got MRT even at the same day I got there and the surgery early morning the following day. Fortunately, my ligaments and menisci weren't affected and it was just a patella luxation which caused a big effusion within the joint.

Bad thing: I have to wear a bar which stretches my knee now for a month and I'm not allowed to snowboard for expected 3 months :(

Good thing: When this is over, there is a good chance that my knee works like it did before :)

So I wish you all a better start into 2009 and watch yourself :)

http://www.elansnowboards.com//team/blogs/rockafella/-/1/2009/sofiahttp://www.elansnowboards.com//team/blogs/rockafella/-/1/2009/sofia<![CDATA[Sofia]]>one week before christmas my crew and i went on a trip to sofia(Bulgaria) for a railcontest in the citycenter and some Streetrails. Sadly there was not enough snow for street spots so we spent the first 2 days in the mountains and then we were riding the Contest setup which was pretty good for four days.

We were there with Wojtech from Poland and Baszi from Hungary. Also Jocki Köffler from the pirates joined us for one day...

Jasmin, my girl, hurt her knee really bad and had to go back home earlier and had a surgery on 23rd of december. The rest of us returned on 24th of december which was a little bit stressy with christmas.

From 12th Dec. on I was on nassfeld for 3 days cause i won a trip to a giant studentparty with two days of snowboarding. Everything started on Thursday evening we were on a party in vienna. Went to bed at 6:30 and get up again at 7. So no sleep...

There was a partytrain going to nassfeld where i didn't stopped partying until we arrived. But then the fresh air knocked me out :-D so i slept from 18 hours in a row and was 100% fit for a good powder day. So it was the best thing for me to sleep during the first party there.

In the morning we had some awesome powder runs with up to 3 meters of snow. SOOO sick. in the afternoon i joined Rob Mathera, Rudi Kröll and Fuchsi a good friend of mine at a kicker show for the students there which was also pretty sick. It's been a while since i jumped kickers last time. But i enjoied it for sure. tried some bs 5's and 7's....

In the evening there was a heavy party and on the next day hangover powderruns...

all in all it was pretty funny

you heard about that the contest in stubai was cancelled. Now it will be at 10th of january.

We moved to innsbruck to ride the contest and were visiting Thomas Kraehe and all the other dudes downtown. So because of the sick weather we decided to kill a ledge together with Patrick Rauter. He killed the ledge backside 50/50 180 off and i decided to do it "bomb drop" frontside one-eighty.

It was a nice session together with my friend.

The before-contest party later in the blue chip was very funny and it was nice to meet so much people back in austria - thanx.

Our new photo and filmdude Rene Pressing made the pics.

The last two weeks i was overseas. The first week I went to Colorado, to
Breckenridge, to get some early season riding in, but well there was not
that much snow. So I rode the slopes and some boxes and rails. I met a lot
of Euros there too. Clair Bidez was my amazing host and I celebrated for the
first time Thanks Giving. We got soooo much food, it was incredible!
Then I went with the Helly Hansen team to Canada, to the Chatter Creek
lodge, which is in interior BC, to do a cataloge shoot. It took us two days
from Colorado to get to the Lodge, it is literally in the middle of nowhere..
So beautiful! An amazing lodge, supergood food and drinks ;-) We also got
some powder in, it could have been more snow, to go crazy on those pillows.
But this was a great start for the season!
Tomorrow I leave with Conny to the Chicken Jam in Kaprun. The weather
forecast does not look too good. I hope though we will be lucky and get some
sun. Anyways there is a masked ball on the programm. Hehe
Enjoy!

So I know that you guys in Europe have been really lucky with the snow and that is so amazing. In Whistler and all of West Cost Canada, we have nothing, a few cm only and it keep raining to the top of the glacier. Hopefully this is change soon since it only takes one good week but still.

So I just finished my intensive 500 hour yoga course, sort of the PhD in yoga and it was amazing, lots of work but learned so much about so many different subjects.

I graduated on Decmber 1st then flew the nest day to Colorado where there's lots of snow and a pipe in Copper mountain. So crowded, I think that every pipe rider in the world is here right now. I rode for a few days, then flew back to Clagary to go do our cathaloguy shoot with Powder Room/Rip Zone and like every year it's a non stop party and good times along with lots of make-up. I just came right back here to Colorado for the Grand Prix that is tomorrow and I wished I had a few more days to get my tricks back on track. Oh well, it's all good, first contest of the year right?

Here are a few photos of my yiga graduation that was pretty amazing yet sad to leave everybody after all this time and then from our photoshoot.

HOpe to see some of you guys soon.

ciao

how's everyone doing? winter has started now definitely *jippie* ... snow has even fallen in Vienna! :)

Last weeks I've been to Dachstein every weekend, the park is so perfect there!! You find loads of kickers and boxes for each level and the shapers do their best!

However, this weekend I haven't been there 'cause I've been invited to a Jib Contest in the city Martin, Slovakia. It was a really funny session at an unusual location. It was held in front of the screen of a massive open air cinema. I needed some time to get used to the set-up because of the sketchy inrun but I felt more comfortable with every run. After the qualifications I was one of the 3 girls that were going to the finals. There was a quite long break before the finals and it was pretty cold. I didn't expect that it was going good for me in the finals but when they started I was really excited and had fun. In the end I won the contest and even if I smelled like a bottle of champaign after the price giving I was really happy about that :)

I also got to know a bunch of really cool girls from Poland, that invited me to a contest in Zakopane... I'm looking forward to that :)

... until that I'm happy about the fresh snow at home and looking forward to the week before christmas, when I will be in Sofia, Bulgaria, for another Jib Contest and some shooting.

Hope you all had a nice season start and enjoy the powder!!

cheers

The only information i've got was that it will happen in frydek-mistek near the boarder to poland. And that i should be there at about 12 o'clock.

I arrived at 13:00 and there was a session going on on a kinked box. I was getting a little nervouse but Radim (the organizer) told me, that this is a public contest and there will be a session afterwards on the other obstacles.

So we went in town again to get ourself something to eat. when we returned everything was finished. PERFECT setup consisting of a 20 stairs downrail, a downbox and a gap box. We had a fine session from 17:00 until 21:00. Sick riders from cz, sl, sk and me and a friend from austria.

After the session there was a big party going on in a bunker :-D never session such a crazy location.

I really liked the session there. Hope i can provide you with some pictures in the next days.

They just built the new park and the the traditional Pleasure Jam started the season there.

Due to the weather conditions and the fact that i visited the premiere party of "that's it that's all" (sickest movie i've ever seen) i decided to go up a little bit later. After a cool day with some jibbing.

In the evening there was a premiere party of the pinking fam. I didn't wanted to go there but was forced at 4 o'clock in the morning when a friend called me that another friend is sooo drunken that i had to pick him up and carry him in the appartment (in the shower to be exact) which wasn't an easy mission. And i couldn't sleep in again cause i was listening all the time if he's breathing.

So i had a lack of sleep although i went to bed pretty early. Also my motivation wasn't big enough to ride the whole day. So we filmed the downrail a little bit and after that i slept for an hour or smth. in the snow :-)

Btw.: Andi Wiig won the Pleasurejam. Eero Etala won the best trick with a switch double backflip but only got 5th place. For details visit http://www.pleasurejam.at/

Once again it was the "mondial du snowboard" the 19th one. And once again the week end was so expectable. Before I start to describe what happened, I just want to precise that due to bad weather and strong wind the lifts stayed closed. So here is what happen to me: I rode two slopes that I hiked up in 3 days. I've seen 10 video "première"special mention for "double decade"!!! Met many friend that I didn't seen for a while. Seen an old pro snowboarder shaping a spot with some skis!!! Shaked many hands even the one from stupid people. Have a cup of champagne to celebrate the snowboard industry crisis. Watch a skin head (S. Bourbousson) playing ping pong. Left my friend Sully Monod sleeping into a cardboard. Watched hundred people trying to enter a night club already full. Try to make a report with my cell phone......................
See you next year same date, same place, same week end...

If you translate Dachstein to english it's Roofstone. And since this Weekend i know why it's called like this. we found a obstacle....no we found a complete little park...it was just a big rock and we used it as a wallride, a ledge and butterbox-dropdown obstacle.

It was so much fun, we were filming with some guys and it was great. We got some sick tricks on tape but unfortunatly we had no photocamera there. but i will provide you with a short video within this week.

Since I got the summer season card of Dachstein glacier, which is valued until end of November, I’m mostly hanging there at the moment…

This weekend I wasn’t sure if I would make it to the mountain, ‘cause it was my daddy’s 50. birthday weekend. My elderly relatives are more party tigers than I thought, so I was in this restaurant dancing to funny songs with my uncles till 6 in the morning…

One hour after going to bed my phone rang and I was told to be ready in 10 minutes for going to Dachstein… jippie :)

I didn’t expect that I could even go up in the gondola, but it was a surprisingly good day. A little foggy though, but not many people.. liked it!

After riding, the guys who took me there went home and I was “on my own” again, like last weekend, after my friends went home on Saturday… Fortunately, I found a place to sleep where I got delicious dinner and breakfast as well… THX to Hawa!!

Sunday was excellent but many people again. It’s really warm up there and the snow is untypically slushy for this time of year. Hopefully that will change soon…

After riding I got to know 3 nice local girls who drove me down to Ramsau, where a friend picked me up and drove me home to Vienna…hihi… THX to all of you!

Curiously waiting for next weekend!

Cheers and have fun

How is everybody doing? I'm so jealous of you guys that are already riding the sweet Euro Glacier.

Snow is falling to the villgae here in Whistler ut it's still not time yet. I think the mountain will open on November 28th, so long time form now.

So since September, I've been doing really really, and I mean really intense yoga sessions. I got certified to be an international yoga teacher in September, so that was 200 hours in 25 days. Then a few days later I started the second level were you learn more about breathing, energies, paraspychology, and even tantra. That's another 300 hours and this all end's at the end of November. 6days a week and 8 hours a day. So As you can guess I pretty much don't have a life outside of this yoga world for now. I'm doing all this in Vancouver at this really amazing school where there is people from all over the World that come to study here. All ages and proffessions. It's a really great group and it's crazy the things that you learn about your body that you didn't know and let's face it, you've been with your body your whole life so it's pretty fascinating.

Well just a quick hello to everybody that I miss so much form the snow world.

I teach a few of you this Winter my new yoga skills. I already have some offers to teach on the road. We'll see were all of this leads.

Sorry, no photos during yoga.

Even if it’s only beginners park at the time, I had much fun there at the weekend! Unfortunately, it’s still too less snow for the pro park and the conditions in the beginners park are a bit icy. On Saturday there were many people on the mountain, so the queue was quite long at the lift. But on Sunday it was much better, less people and softer snow in the park. I really enjoyed the little jibs, which are perfect for the first days of the season!

Weather was perfect both days… check the pix.

Hopefully, it will dump as soon as hard as possible!!

… the pro park really needs it and there are few weeks to go for the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam...

  Hope to see u there!

It’s been a while since my last blog…

After my trip through Europe nothing particularly interesting happened. I did my usual summer working to save money for winter and besides that I was studying like crazy for Uni. Thinking like “what you can manage in summer won't bother you in winter” I prepared for 2 big exams which were held on the same day at the end of September… It was really interesting, all about anatomy, injuries, therapy… but I’ve never ever studied as much before and I’m really happy it’s over now

… to start into the new season *jippie*

Season start this year for me meant Hintertux Opening…

Conny (was nice to meet you again :) ) pretty much catched the point:

Saturday dumping and fog at the mountain, but still had much fun… sooo nice to be in the snow again!

Then sunshine on Sunday and monshine on Monday ( monshine is the new word for “sunshine” plus “less people in the park than on Sunday”… ;) )

So I was really happy to stay until Monday, it was the perfect start into the new season… good conditions, much fun in the park, meeting all the dudies again… AWESOME!

Next weekend unfortunately won’t be a riding weekend, but I’m still looking forward to it…

It’s time for the Premiere Party of our new Movie, Bamboo Motion Pictures ‘Together’, in Wr. Neustadt. So if you’re hanging near Vienna next weekend… would be happy to welcome you :)

The Movie is available at

Enjoy the first flakes,

was another middle of the Winter day at Snow Park today with the perfect pipe, jumps and 1/4 pipe. It's getting really busy with all the teams and crews coming in left right and center but you get to catch-up with old friends (like Neil) and make new ones during the Karaoke party nights. We're staying in a huge house (just the girls) right in town which is amazing but it's so hard to heat it up and in the morning it's barely 10 degrees inside so I opted to go to bed fully clothes so I can get up in the mornings. We've hit great powder up at Treble Cone and we're thinking about going Helli-boarding pretty soon when the avalanche warning settles down. All in all it's been a pretty great trip so far but I've got to say I wasn't ready for this cold and all this ice. I guess I was expecting to have more Spring time conditions like last year, but I'll just have to suck it up I guess. Got to go meet-up with some friends for dinner.
Ciao
Dom
